SCA UK Cup Tasters Championship
The SCA UK is delighted to be hosting two heats for their 2025 Cup Tasters Championship at Caffè Culture!
The Specialty Coffee Association UK Chapter is back at Caffé Culture for another year, this time hosting their largest-ever heat of the United Kingdom Cup Tasters Championship, which will span two days.
Drawing the best palettes from the UK coffee industry, this is the SCA UK’s most popular competition.
Competitors slurp their way through four sets of triangulations (three “cups” of coffee, where two are the same and one is different) to spot the odd one out.
The competition gets progressively harder as the coffees in each set become increasingly similar. It could be as simple as choosing a Costa Rican coffee from a Colombian, or as tricky as picking between the same origin, varietal and process, but from farms (or fields!) just 5km apart.
The results are instant as contestants lift their cups to see if a gold dot on the base indicates they have correctly identified the odd one out. The highest score in the fastest time wins—it's the coffee equivalent of a penalty shoot-out!
